This website stole my money so i’d like to make folks informed of it, why not support me spread around this important matter so they can not steal other peoples money!!! They took all my funds (1300$) and just do not respond anymore… same happened to somebody well before but i found that too late. Thanks for reading and commenting on my story!
Good luck on the restoration. I hope you enjoy it.
Take plenty of pics before, during and after your work, and try to keep a log of your progress, with time spent and cost of parts and supplies and keep any receipts. Documentation is always a good thing.
If you can, please send me some pics of your progress, as a ‘vicarious’ ’39 Plymouth is better than none! LOL

Friday, May 6, 2011:

Okay… (*muffled growl*)

I have been TRYING to update this page, and the software INSISTS on rearranging the text and changing the font. I DID do some ‘fixes’ in my stories, such as typos, spacing, etc. today, as this is the first time in over a year that the software would LET me do it!

Yes, it is updated software!

I am learning (slowly) to HATE WordPress!

I give up for today, and might try again tomorrow! But for now, ‘GOODBYE’!

Today is Friday, May 6, 2011.

This morning I once again updated the WordPress software version, and lo and behold, I can log in and edit again since sometime back in 2009!!

I have corrected a few typos which worked, and tried to work on the differences in the font and spacing which didn’t work.

That being said, I now intend to continue blogging.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your comment, good, bad or otherwise.

I have tried to respond to each of you and have only succeeded a couple of times. It always looks so easy on TV or in a movie when someone is blogging or hacking into a government-secured website, doesn’t it? lol

Well, as I mentioned in a reply to another comment to my story about Charlie Manson and Me, I have tried making some corrections to my story, and WordPress isn’t letting me do that. The same with trying to reply to comments. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn’t work.

It’s not my computer equipment or web connection. Photoshop CS5 opens in 11 seconds (I have 16 GB RAM!), and I’m connected by DSL at the highest speed offered by AT&T U-verse, 24 Mbps.

But I wanted people who took the time to read my stuff to know why I haven’t commented on their comments in a timely fashion. (Where does it stop?? lol)

Hi Guy,

I thank my Dad for my ‘Mickey-Mouse’ capabilities. He always had a work-around method that ‘got it done’, no-matter what it looked like afterwards. That’s not to say it didn’t usually look better than a ‘store-bought’ job.

Sorry for all the ‘air quotes’. lol

You didn’t mention the make/model of your ’65-er. Would like to know what you spent your time, money and soul on back then.

Great story. A bit more painful than my first car in 1965 which I managed to buy for about $100 on my $50 a week part time salary
while paying for school, food, and a shared apt. Nice shiney $50 paint job, no brakes, rust in the floor boards to drag your feet, mostly Bondo in the rear, and the thing immediately backfired and burnt the hood paint.
My first experience with the state troopers was in my dads truck and it only cost me $125 for speeding
I can’t believe you managed to swap the motor with only a rope and tree limbs!
Amazing what we did in our youth with no money …….

Thanks for the nice comment and the info.

Just so you know, I did a LOT of research about this story before and while I was writing it. There is so much disparate information on the Web that it is difficult to see it all and sort it out.

Since I received the email that you posted this comment, I have been trying to insert a correction within the story on page 4.

However, WordPress, the blogging software, has not been working for me, even with 2 updates installed. I write a comment then try to update the page, and nothing happens.

I just wanted you to know that I tried. …REALLY tried!

At one point last summer, I changed the style of the blog, and I had to re-enter EVERY page and picture, even though the style was the same layout as the original. The pages are still not exactly the way I want them, but I’m NOT going through that again!

I suppose I will have to try contacting WordPress for some help, as I would like to work on some more stories.

It’s too bad you never got to have all the great experiences you had dreamed of having with the completed car. It still sounds like a great experience. Maybe someone was looking out for you, preventing something that could have altered or ended your life had you driven that car. I am a young man from Ma. a little older than you were in your story. Just so you know, Manson was caught at Barker ranch on October 12, 1969, not August 16.
The August 16 raid happened at Spahn ranch.

Fabulous story, great pictures and a wonderful rememberance of your adventure. I’ve read your rantings and ravings and am here, reliving the experience. If you recall . . . I stayed at your house to watch over Chopper and heard much of this after you got home, (no pictures, at that time. You hadn’t developed them yet!) Now I can tell you what I could not tell you when you returned home. Chopper broke out of the yard, (my fault, I’m sure, for leaving the gate open just a bit, while I got something from my car. What happened after that, until the time you, Barbara and Danny got home, is a tale of urban horror, citywide chases and fear, which I will write about, someday, after some of the statutes have run out.
Love your writing style and side comments. You write just like you speak . . . naturally and with a sense of drama and humor, engaging the reader / listener in each moment of your adventure with the advantage of perspective, drawn from the years since it occurred. More … More … More…

I’ve known you my whole life and am just now hearing about this wonderful adventure!!! Such fun..and so interesting to read. Your email came on the day that I had just decided not to spend so much time on the computer…oh well…I can make that decision (again) on another day!!!!
